Packing chargers, cables and plug adaptors for a trip

Packing for a trip often goes smoothly right up until the moment chargers and cables need to be gathered together, at which point they always seem to be scattered across several different rooms. A charger left behind can turn into a real inconvenience once you are already at your destination with no way to replace it easily.

Going from room to room with a small pouch in hand, collecting each charger as it is found, tends to work far better than trying to remember everything from memory the night before leaving. Checking behind bedside tables and near the kitchen worktop often turns up chargers that would otherwise have been forgotten entirely.

A dedicated pouch makes all the difference

Keeping a single, dedicated pouch just for travel chargers and cables means packing for the next trip becomes far quicker, since most of what is needed is already gathered in one place. Adding a plug adaptor to this pouch as soon as a trip is booked avoids the last-minute rush to track one down.

It is worth checking plug shapes for the destination well before the day of travel, particularly if it has been a while since the last trip abroad. A quick search or a glance at an old adaptor is usually enough to confirm what will actually be needed.

Labelling cables, even with something as simple as a small piece of tape, helps enormously once several similar-looking cables end up together in the same pouch. This small step at home saves a surprising amount of confusion while away, especially in a hotel room with limited sockets to go around.

Packing a short extension lead alongside the usual chargers can also be worthwhile, particularly in older buildings where sockets are sometimes scarce or awkwardly placed. Having one small item that solves several problems at once is often far more useful than an extra adaptor that only fits a single plug shape.
